If you believe the rumours, the oh-so-talented Taylor Swift may not be as original as we once thought. Established US folk singer Matt Nathanson has a bone to pick the 22 year-old - he think she knows his work 'All Too Well'..
Taylor is famed for her talent for songwriting and playing her own instruments, making the singer's accusation all the more controversial.
Matt Nathanson, 39, revealed via Twitter this week that he's well aware that Taylor is a fan of his, alleging that she likes his work so much that she was tempted to lift a lyric from one of songs.
The lyric in question is from a ditty he wrote back in 2003 called "I Saw". He tweeted, and later deleted, on Oct. 24: “She’s definitely a fan… and now she’s a thief.” Ouch!
The blog Oh No They Didn’t! pointed out the similar lyrics on Oct. 31, adding:
“I wouldn’t think much about it normally except for the fact that she is a fan of his…she has written HIS lyrics on her arm at her concerts before [during her Speak Now tour].”
Matt went back to his Twitter on Nov. 2, saying: “So far, my favorite thing about today is the wave of @taylorswift13 fans calling me a prick on twitter for writing “I saw” in 2003.”
Matt sings in 2003′s “I Saw’: “and I’ll forget about you long enough to forget why I need to.” Taylor’s 2012 song “All Too Well” goes like this: “and I forget about you long enough to forget why I needed to.” That is very similar...
What d'you reckon? Would Taylor do such a thing?
