One Direction fans needn't worry: One Direction will remain One Direction indefinitely.
The British boy banders have settled a lawsuit filed against them by an American band that had been releasing music under the same name. According to the BBC, the American group will now go by the name Uncharted Shores, while the flop-topped fivesome can continue to record under One Direction. Uncharted Shores had been seeking $1 million in damages and asked for loyalties. There has been no word on what they eventually settled for, but the site reports that both sides are pleased with the outcome.
Uncharted Shores originally sued 1D back in April, causing quite the frenzy among the 1D fanbase, who quickly started suggesting names for the boy band to consider if they had to change their name. In June, 1D's manager, Simon Cowell, countersued the American band, noting that the American band had known about the British one when they formed, not the other way around.
Well, with the dispute all settled, fans can now focus on some big things in the land of 1D. They are up for two Moonmen at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards this Thursday (Best New Artist and Best Pop Video for their clip for "What Makes You Beautiful"). They are also battling Justin Bieber for the Most Share-Worthy Video.
They will also take the stage at the show for their first-ever VMA performance on September 6. You can pre-game with the "Jersey Shore" special "Gym, Tan, Look Back" at 6 p.m. before it all kicks off with the pre-show at 7 p.m. and the main show at 8 p.m.
Additionally, the guys will drop their single, "Live While We're Young," on October 1. Their sophomore album, Take Me Home, will hit stores on November 13.
