Tintu Luka into 800m semis
India's 800m runner Tintu Luka has qualified for the semifinal of the event with a timing of 2:01.75s. She finished third behind Mariya Savinova of Russia and Alice Schmidt of USA.
The semifinal and final of the event are scheduled for Thursday and Saturday respectively.
Now all eyes will be set on Luka whether she can become the third Indian to make the finals of track and field event at the ongoing Games after Krishna Poonia and Vikas Gowda.
Mary Kom and Devendro Singh will be in action on Wednesday in their respective bouts.
The day will start for India when Tintu Luka competes in the women’s 800m round 1 at the Olympic stadium.
The eyes will be set on Mary Kom who will look to become the first ever Indian to reach the final of the Olympics when she faces Nicola Adams of Britain. On the other hand, Devendro will look to add another medal to India’s tally in his quarterfinal match against Paddy Barnes of Ireland.
