"Harry Potter" actress Emma Watson went from loathing the idea of Pittsburgh to liking it – in fact it's now one of her favorite places in the world.
That's what she tells Entertainment Weekly in an interview that's part of its fall movie preview.
Talking about coming to Pittsburgh to shoot "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," based on Stephen Chbosky's novel of the same name, she says, "When I first arrived, I was like, 'Oh my God, this is going to be awful – we're here for seven weeks? There's nothing here!' And then it worked out perfectly. [The cast and crew] all lived together in a hotel, and all the rooms were connected. We ate together every night, played music and games. A lot of barriers come down when you're living together."
As the Post-Gazette reported, she and others stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Bethel Park – across from South Hills Village -- from April until late June 2011. Not only was the hotel off the beaten Downtown path, where fans might have thought everyone was holed up, but it was close to the South Hills locations Chbosky was using. And probably a tad more economical.
