One Direction board private plane with fans to raise money for charity

Since placing third on The X Factor, One Direction have grown accustomed to jetting around in private jets.

However, today the five-piece were joined by a selection of their fans as they took a private charter flight from London to Manchester with competition winners for charity.

Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik helped to raise £50,000 for Flying Start - British Airway's charity partnership with Comic Relief as they took to the skies in the specially named BA1D.

The heartthrobs each wore white T-shirts branded with the charity name and jeans and all except Liam sported sunglasses as they posed on the runway before take-off.

On the plane, excited fans were thrilled as their idols walked the aisles signing autographs and posing for pictures and cheeky Louis even took over the flight announcement system while Niall looked on in hysterics.

Tonight, the group are headlining a pop-filled line-up at Radio City Live in Liverpool Arena where they will perform alongside acts including Professor Green , Stooshe , Alyssa Reid, Labrinth, Alexandra Burke, Rizzle Kicks, Tulisa, Taio Cruz and Will Young.

It will also be a chance for Zayn to spend some time with his girlfriend Perrie Edwards who is in the bill with her group, X Factor winners Little Mix.

Niall is obviously excited about the performance and tweeted this morning about the big day the group had planned.

In a series of tweets, he wrote ‘Goodmorning peeps! Whats goin on? Today is gona be fun! Cant wait

‘... @zaynmalik has just confirmed to myself and @Real_Liam_Payne that he was up at 7am today! I think that deserves a round of applause !

‘Liverpool we're comin back, its been a while, but we will be at the echo tonight! Who is coming? Xxx

‘Everyone ready for tonight, its a great line up, cant wait! First gig in the uk in ages

‘Had a bit of a sleep, needed it bigtime! Woke up didnt where i was and couldnt understand why it was 16:45 pm haha (sic).’

The group are currently working on their eagerly awaited second album and recently spent time in the studio with McFly.

They are also expected to collaborate with teen heartthrob Justin Bieber on the record.

While they no doubt enjoyed the flight with fans, Harry was less than impressed to find what was waiting for the group at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.

When they got to their dressing room, Harry tweeted a picture of markers and blank canvas which had been left out and joked 'I know we're young but I feel like colouring books in the dressing room is a little far.'
