Demi Lovato had a hit record with Unbroken in 2011. Now, the 19-year-old is hard at work on the follow-up.
On Wednesday, the singer, actress, X Factor judge and host of this year’s Teen Choice Awards called into Ryan Seacrest’s radio show and gave an update on the status of her fourth album.
"I'm in the process of writing my fourth album," Demi said, according to MTV News . “I haven't come up with a lot yet. I'm still experimenting with what direction I want to go in right now.”
While she is still unsure about what her sound will be, Pop/rock or more R&B like her sound on Unbroken, the “Give Your Heart a Break” singer says there is one song she wants her fans to hear one day, a track that was leaked online last year called “Shut Up and Love Me.”
“I don't know if 'Shut Up and Love Me' is gonna make it, hopefully it will. I want it to be released at some point in my life, but I'm really, really excited and hopefully I'll be able to do that once everything slows down a little bit."
Right now, Lovato’s hectic schedule includes touring and being an X Factor judge. She opened up about fellow judges Britney Spears and Simon Cowell during her talk with Ryan Seacrest.
Lovato says she has fun working with Britney, 30. She says they are similar in some ways.
"She's amazing and I'm having so much fun with her," Lovato said. "You know, we obviously have both been through a lot so I think that we kind of just get each other a little bit. We're still getting to know each other of course, but she's just so much fun to work with, she's really genuine and she's kind of shy sometimes when the audience cheers for her. I think it's really sweet that she's so humble, but she's also really, really funny on the show."
When it comes to Simon Cowell, they may bicker a lot, but she says working with him is "fun."
“We have a lot of fun together and you know, deep down he's a really cool guy," she said.
The X Factor premieres in September. Before the big premiere, fans can catch her on tour or this Sunday, where she is hosting the Teen Choice Awards with Glee star Kevin McHale.
