The starlet looks sophisticated beyond her years for her closeup thanks to bold lips and brows and a high volume coif–here’s how you can copy the look!
Selena Gomez just proved she’s graduated from the Disney set on the July cover of ELLE. Selena, 19, has bombshell makeup and hair, which transforms her innocent face into a smoking hot siren! We chatted with makeup artist and eyebrow stylist, Julie Tussey from Angelo David Salon in NYC for tips on how you can get Selena’s look.
“Selena’s makeup is a modern take on the classic Audrey Hepburn look: very simple and clean, with strong brows punctuated with a bold lip,” says Julie. “Her full eyebrows point towards her temples and have an elongated tail, which is very reminiscent of the 40s and the 50s,” she says. To achieve this look, you need to fill in the brows using an eyebrow pencil like Laura Mercier Eyebrow Pencil and a powder like Anastasia Brow Powder Duo. This is a heavy look, so you want the powder to stick to the eyebrows. To make this happen, dab the brows with synthetic brow wax (or even a clear chapstick will do) to ensure the powder will stay in place.
To copy Selena’s makeup, Julie recommends using a water-based foundation like Diorskin Airflash Spray Foundation for a flawless, even appearance that doesn’t look too heavy. Add definition around the apples of the cheek with a powder bronzer. Line the top and bottom eyelids with a brown eye pencil and dab a light shimmer eyeshadow on the brow bone area. Add a few coats of Mascara on your lashes and top off the look with a bold red lipstick.
