One Direction visits Magic Mountain; 1D opening act Camryn tells backstage tales

While on a break from a sold-out headlining tour of North America, "The X Factor" U.K. boy band One Direction visited the amusement park Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California, on June 15, 2012. One Direction's Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Harry Styles were photographed riding the rollercoasters Tatsu and X2 at Magic Mountain. (One Direction's Zayn Malik and Liam Payne were not at Six Flags Magic Mountain.)

Meanwhile, 12-year-old American singer Camryn, who was an opening act in the first few dates of the tour (which launched on May 22, 2012, in Uncasville, Connecticut), has posted some backstage stories about One Direction on her website blog.

She wrote:

“The boys were hilarious and running around all day pranking one another, and just being goofballs. They’re crazy in an awesome way. I played my set and afterwards Niall gave me a shout out during the show for being on the tour so far. It was amazing. I didn’t know he was going to do it and when he did, I totally had a fangirl moment ...

“The boys are awesome. They are very random, spontaneous and funny. Harry loves to start random dance parties any time he hears music. Every time he’d walk passed my dressing room I’d catch him dancing to the music we were playing ...

"The boys are like older brothers, they are so nice and sweet, and have taken care of me on the road. It’s great having support from people you work with, but it’s an even better feeling from people you look up to as artists. When I first met the boys they were almost shy, which was completely not what I expected from them at all!”

Former "X Factor" U.K. finalist Olly Murs joined the One Direction tour as the opening act, as of May 29, 2012.

One Direction came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010. Since then, the group has had No. 1 hits in several countries, and One Direction's tours have sold out within minutes.

One Direction has become the biggest global act to emerge from "The X Factor." Tabloids have been reporting some speculative numbers on how much money One Direction is set to earn in 2012 and 2013.

Sony Music U.K. chairman/CEO Nick Gatfield told the Daily Mirror that One Direction as a group is worth £32 million (or $51.2 million) in 2012.

Gatfield added: “We fully expect to double that £32 million figure next year. No wonder: The boys have a world tour in 2013 and a second album is in the pipeline. The team around them, including musicians, stylists, producers, tour managers and so on, is 90-strong. That’s 90 jobs created by these five boys.”

Even with expenses and taxes deducted, all of guys in One Direction have become millionaires in 2012.
