Justin Bieber headed up to Canada over the weekend to attend Sunday's MuchMusic Video Awards. While he was in his native country, he decided to do something really romantic for lady love Selena Gomez.
A day before he and Gomez appeared on the awards show, Justin rented a helicopter and flew around Toronto between rehearsals. During the ride, he took her to his hometown of Stratford, Ontario, People.com reported. A source added that it was "a relaxing and romantic break from work" and that "they were very excited."
Sunday was just as exciting for Bieber as he took home two prizes for Best International Video of the Year by a Canadian for "Boyfriend" and UR Fave Artist. The teen also hit the stage to perform "Boyfriend" and "All Around the World," from his album Believe, out Tuesday. Be sure to tune in on Tuesday for MTV's "Bieber Live," where Justin will dish about his new album at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT.
Bieber recently gushed about his girlfriend to Fabulous magazine, but noted that he also has love for the other ladies in his life: his fans.
"I never like to throw it in my fans' faces. I love my fans and I'd never want to do that to them," he said of keeping a low profile with Selena. "It's my private life and I like to keep that separate. I don't have many things that I get to myself but that's one thing. I'm very happy, and I know my fans just want to be happy for me."
Bieber and Gomez's relationship first became public in January 2011 when they were spotted on vacation together in St. Lucia. But in the 18 months since they were photographed on that romantic trip, they haven't been shy about their love for each other.
"My first kiss with Selena was the best of my life. It was in the car. It was scary and spontaneous and it was just awesome," he recalled. "What does love feel like? It feels good. If you're really in love, then you should get butterflies — butterflies and happiness. That's how I feel anyway."
Bieber sings plenty about love on his June 19 album, Believe. And he'll not only discuss the release, but also perform during "Bieber Live" on MTV tomorrow.
