One Direction pops up in Chapel St

ONE Direction fever has struck Melbourne again with hundreds of teenage girls braving the overnight cold for the opening of the Melbourne pop-up merchandise store on Chapel St today.

In the latest display of One Direction-mania girls lined down street screaming, crying and singing the band's songs.

Diehard fan Amber Dagher, 14, was at the front of the queue with $100 to buy the latest One Direction merchandise available inside.

"I idolise the five boys. They changed my life so much so this is my way of saying thank you,'' Miss Dagher said.

"I came alone but made plenty of friends in the line.

"Closer to the opening it was painful with all the screaming but it was amazing.''

Hannah Woodward was the lucky 100th customer who scored a free ticket to next year's One Direction concert at Rod Laver Arena.

"I am so happy,'' she said.

"We thought about hanging back in the line to make sure we were in the right place.

"We have stayed up all night.''

It was the second pop-up store to open in Australia following Sydney's hit opening last month.

The store will be open for two weeks selling T-shirts, hoodies, posters, and even One Direction dolls.
