Television stars Nina Dobrev and Selena Gomez are two of the hottest women in the world, according to the Maxim Hot 100 list for 2012. The TV actresses are listed along with other appealing females from the fields of modeling, movies, sports, news, and music.
According to USA Today, the #1 choice on the list is supermodel Bar Refaeli. She is also movie actor Leonardo DiCaprio's ex-girlfriend and may have surprised many by topping this year's list. The editor of Maxim, Dan Bova, said of the choices on the list this year:
"Maxim readers not only appreciate a beautiful-looking woman," Bova says. "They like women who have a great sense of fun, who are kind of like guy's guys. A lot of these women are in comedies or are just big personalities. They're not above it all. They like to do silly things."
Some interesting choices that appear on the list include the first-ever male with Stephen Colbert. The TV star was chosen due to readers voting him in as a write-in choice. Bova said regarding that:
"The Colbert Nation turned out in force. As we say: Democracy isn't pretty, but this time, it was downright handsome."
For television stars on the list, Nina Dobrev of "The Vampire Diaries" ranked at #84, while Selena Gomez who was on "The Wizards of Waverly Place" ranked at #24. Other TV choices included Lea Michele of "Glee," Miley Cyrus of "Hannah Montana" fame, and Cobie Smulders of "How I Met Your Mother." To make sure cartoons were represented, Lois Griffin from "Family Guy" was also on the list at #85.
