Justin Bieber loses People's Choice award to Bruno Mars

While it may not be as disappointing as his loss at the 2011 Grammy Awards, Canadian superstar singer Justin Bieber failed to win the at the 38th People's Choice Awards on Jan. 11, 2012 at the Nokia Theatre in L.A..

Bieber is known for having legions of fans happy to vote for him and, given the People's Choice awards are voted on by the general public, one might think he'd make it to the podium. But for the second straight year he was nominated in at least one category but came away empty handed.

At last year's People's Choice Awards Bieber was nominated for 'Favorite Video' for Baby and 'Favorite Breakout Artist' but didn't win either category (girlfriend Selena Gomez and her band 'The Scene' won the breakout artist category).

This year he was nominated in just one category, 'Favorite Male Artist' and was up against Blake Shelton, Eminem, Enrique Iglesias and the winner, Bruno Mars. Actual vote tallies aren't released so no way of knowing if he finished second or how many votes he received.

Bieber has already won a bevy of awards in his relatively short career, including 4 American Music Awards, 6 Billboard Music Awards, a CMT Music Award, two Juno Awards, 2 MTV Video Music Awards and 8 Teen Choice Awards. He's also been recognized for the work he does for charitable causes, including taking home the 2011 Voices Award at the MTV Europe Music Awards for his efforts to help others.
