Demi Lovato is taking a break from Twitter

Singer, Demi Lovato, announced to her 5.6 million followers that she has decided to take a break from social media site, Twitter.

According to Contact Music, Lovato tweeted, "Can't please everyone."

Follwing this tweet, the 19-year-old pop star wrote, "Twitter Break. It's for the best actually. Who allows me to have this thing anyways?!!! I just myself in trouble! Haha. Anyway... BYE!"

Lovato was known to be very active on Twitter, speaking out against eating disorders and successfully getting Disney to pull episodes from Shake it Up and So Random, which made jokes about eating disorders.

The Huffington Post reports that this decision to leave Twitter has come after Lovato’s reported break-up from actor Wilmer Valderrama.

The couple however, have not confirmed the split. Rumors began circulating early in January that the couple were having problems after Lovato tweeted "Loyalty is EVERYTHING.. I'm thankful for my friends who stand by my side" and also, "The smartest thing a woman can ever learn, is to never need a man."

The pair had been seen at Hollywoods's Beacher's Madhouse on January 18. Lovato had been dining with Kim Kardashian when they were spotted by Valderrama. The Huffington Post reports that Lovato and Valderrama were dancing close and could not seem to keep their hands off each other.

This decision to leave Twitter also comes after Lovato sparked controversy this weekend as a photo of the singer wearing a lacy black bra while straddling a male surfaced.

Lovato has been publicly dealing with mental and emotional health issues, recently spending three months receiving treatment.

Lovato is not the first young star to take a break from Twitter, as fellow teen sensation, Miley Cyrus, left the site in 2009.
