Country superstar Taylor Swift returned to her old Cape May County stamping grounds Tuesday and Wednesday.
Swift, 22, grew up in Wyomissing, Pa., but spent her summers first in Sea Isle City and later in Stone Harbor, where her parents had a vacation home until 2004. After that, she moved to a town outside Nashville and turned into one of the biggest music acts in the world.
The singer ate dinner Tuesday at the Lobster House in Cape May and stopped by The Marketplace @ Teaberry in Dennis Township on Wednesday.
Lobster House manager Chris Krauss was working when Swift, her parents and a security guard entered the restaurant for the first seating at 6 p.m. They did not make an advance reservation.
"She just kinda came in like a regular person," said Krauss, who recognized her. "She sat down. She enjoyed her dinner. ... She blended in very well."
Krauss said he did not know what she ordered. He did not think any patrons asked for autographs or took pictures with her while she was in the restaurant. The employees did not bother her during her dinner either, Krauss said, adding that Swift was there for between 60 and 90 minutes.
"I said, ‘Hello, how are you doing? Have a good night, see ya,'" Krauss said.
It has been a good year for celebrities at the restaurant, as singer Martina McBride and actress Anne Hathaway stopped by earlier this year, Krauss said.
On Wednesday, Swift made an appearance between 12:30 and 1 p.m. at The Marketplace @ Teaberry retail store, said Teaberry manager Sharon Houston-Collins, who was not there at the time. Swift looked around but did not buy anything. It is not known how long she was there because the cashier did not see her arrive, Houston-Collins said.
"A customer recognized her going out the door. The cashier said hello... and Taylor Swift said hello back and left," Houston-Collins said.
