Some say Selena Gomez was secretly watching Justin Bieber when he performed a spectacular duet on Thursday night's X Factor with eliminated contestant Drew Ryniewicz. What's this all about? That really doesn't sound like typical Selena behavior.
According to a report from Hollywood Life, Justin and Drew's performance was actually taped back on December 14th. And while Drew didn't actually get to meet Selena Gomez, she did hear that she was watching their performance.
"I didn't meet Selena, I heard she was in the building while I was singing with Justin," Drew said. "I was like 'awkward!"
Drew needn't have felt that way in the least, however. Selena and Justin both have the utmost of respect for each other's careers. She knows he performs with pretty girls and he knows she performs with handsome guys. It's just part of the music business.
Drew did say that Justin Bieber was wonderfully supportive and gave her some advice that she will never forget.
"He gave me quite a bit of advice, he told me that I might not be the winner of the show that doesn't mean I am not a winner. He said that I would be going far and he was rooting for me! He saw my performances and he said I was beautiful," she said.
Can you imagine how incredibly excited this 14-year-old must have been to both sing with and receive a hug from Justin Bieber? It's every teenage girl's wildest dream!
Congrats to both Justin and Drew on their remarkable performance. And kudos to Selena for staying in the background when they filmed their clip. She obviously knew that Drew needed this time alone with Justin, and she didn't want to upstage the moment in any way.
Even though Drew didn't win X Factor, Justin and Selena both helped her achieve what she'll always remember as a dream come true.
