Nick Jonas can add composer to his resume.
The 18-year-old wrote and produced the entire score for the world of Winterlusk, an expansion world for the popular KingIsle Entertainment game Wizard 101.
“This was a first for me. I’ve never created music for a game or in this case, a whole world before. So I jumped at the chance to work with KingsIsle,” said Nick Jonas. “It was very cool to be part of a project that allowed me to help create the mood for Wintertusk and interact with an audience in an entirely new way.”
Over the last two months, Jonas composed seven pieces of environmental music that serve to define the personality of the icy world of Wintertusk. The project required Jonas to create compelling original work fit for a frozen virtual world, while remaining faithful to the game’s long-established, and extraordinarily-high, musical standards.
Wizard101 is one of the most popular online games in the United States, attracting more than 18 million registered users since its launch in 2009. Designed to provide safe and innovative online entertainment for the entire family, Wizard101 continues to experience extraordinary growth and receive industry acclaim.
Check out our exclusive interview with Nick to find out how he heard about the project and how it was a challenge. He also reveals there might be a hidden gem in the game related to him outside of the music. You’ll just have to play the game to find out what it is.
