Selena Gomez opens up about Spanish 'Year Without Rain'

Late last month, Disney Channel star Selena Gomez presented a new version of her hit "A Year Without Rain," one that was encorded entirely in the Spanish language. It was a bit of a shake-up for the 18-year old star, who has to this point recorded in entirely one language in spite of her Mexican heritage.

In a new video from Terra (which you can see to the left), Gomez talks a bit about her recording of the Spanish-language version of her hit song, which she says was a bit nerve-wrecking at first. She wanted to make sure she "pronounced" everything correctly, which she also said recently on "Lopez Tonight" was one of her fears about performing an album entirely in Spanish. She has expressed a desire to do so at some point in her career.

Also in the video, Selena opens up about how her father chose to name her after the legendary Latin star Selena Quintanilla-Pérez who passed away at a young age (whose life later became a breakout role for Jennifer Lopez). Since Selena has listened to the entire back catalog of her namesake, she claims to have even more of a desire to touch some her fans with Latin roots.

Even if you do not speak Spanish, do you nonetheless enjoy Selena's Latin version of her hit song?
