'Fate of the Furious' Debuts to $100.2 Million, Breaks Records

The Fate of the Furious topped this weekend’s box office with a whopping $100.2 million debut!

According to THR, the latest film in the franchise – starring Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, and more – brought in $432.2 million overseas for a $532.5 million global gross, which will likely surpass Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($529 million) for the biggest global opening of all time.

Coming in at No. 2 was the Alec Baldwin animated flick Boss Baby, which continued to impress with an additional $15.5 million for $116.5 million so far.

Taking the third spot was Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, which earned $13.5 million for a domestic total of $454.7 million and $1.043 billion worldwide.

Rounding out the top five were Smurfs: The Lost Village and Going in Style, which brought in 6.5 million and $6.4 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, at the specialty box office, Charlie Hunnam, Robert Pattinson, and Tom Holland‘s film The Lost City of Z opened to $112,633 from four theaters in New York and Los Angeles for a location average of $28,158.
