That's exactly what happened to Selena Gomez at the Met Gala a few weeks ago. She was at the fashion gathering with her BFF Vanessa Hudgens, and seemed to try to do whatever she could to avoid a run-in with Justin Bieber, her ex-boo.
Vanessa appeared on Watch What Happens Live on Thursday, May 21, where she was asked whether she was an accomplice in helping Sel ditch the Biebs at the Gala.
"Getting spicy now are we?" she replied while trying to kind of play it off. "Um... I mean, not really."
She went on, "She's one of my best friends and you just want to have your girlfriends' backs...so that's what I did. We didn't really try to avoid him or anything. I mean, no one really wants to see your ex boyfriend."
Well, that's a rational response.
It doesn't seem like Justin was that set on skipping out on seeing Selena. If you recall that's where he screamed out to everyone that she looked gorgeous.
Sel didn't seem too fazed by Bieber, though. There were reports that she looked super happy hanging with Vanessa at after-parties that night. A source told Us Magazine that Bieber "tried very hard" to speak to the "Heart Wants What It Wants" singer, but their run-in was brief.
