It’s been some time since we’ve fallen in love with a Sofia Coppola film (see: LOST IN TRANSLATION) but her newest project is generating a lot of interest. THE BLING RING is based on a real-life group of fame-obsessed teens who robbed a slew of celebrities, ranging from Paris Hilton to Lindsay Lohan to Orlando Bloom. These weren’t criminal masterminds, just some young kids who became hypnotized by the lifestyle of the famous.
A couple of images from the film have come online, showing us the cast. Front and center is Emma Watson, the biggest name in the film. Also starring are Taissa Famiga, Israel Broussard, Katie Chang and Claire Julien. They certainly look decked out in some nice threads. That’s what happens when you steal Paris Hilton’s ridiculously expensive jewelry.
There’s no release date on THE BLING RING yet but we’re hoping to hear more about it soon. Like I said, it’s been awhile since we’ve been excited for a Coppola film so we’re hoping this one turns it around.
