Justin Bieber is celebrating his five-year presence on YouTube. It's been a half decade since his mom, Pattie Mallette, uploaded a couple of videos of a 13-year-old Justin singing to the site. The rest--as they say--is history.
According to a report from GMA News, the very first video that Justin's mom uploaded to YouTube was of him singing Ne Yo's song So Sick. Today that particular video has entertained almost 5 million views.
That video launched Justin's career toward the stardom he enjoys today. His YouTube account--under the name "kidrauhl"--now boasts 695 million views on a total of 75 videos.
Justin Bieber has certainly come a long way since that first Ne-Yo cover was posted--hasn't he? Between concerts, albums, a movie and even his beautiful and talented girlfriend Selena Gomez--it certainly seems like the Biebs has learned and gained a lot over the past five years.
Do you suppose Justin is actually celebrating his 5-year anniversary on YouTube? Probably not at this very moment. In fact, he's actually in Panama, supporting Selena Gomez--in concert on her World Tour.
Still Justin Bieber isn't one to forget where he comes from. He no doubt has a great appreciation not only for his mom's encouragement in posting those first couple of videos to YouTube, but also to the web site that ultimately made his whole career a very distinct possibility.
So no--Justin isn't likely celebrating his YouTube half-decade anniversary with cake and balloons, but there's no doubt quite an attitude of gratitude for the site that launched him into the career her enjoys today.
